President Bola Tinubu has been congratulated on his victory at the Presidential Electoral Court (PEPC) by the pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere.
Reuben Fasoranti, the group’s national leader, was reportedly pleased with the verdict, according to a news release issued by the organization’s national publicity secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi.
Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima were congratulated, and Afenifere said that the ruling that further validated the election victory of February 25 should be seen as a challenge to the current administration to fulfil the many promises it has made to Nigerians as well as an indication of the country’s growing democracy.
“As I indicated in my congratulatory message when you, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, were declared winner of this year’s presidential election, your victory raises a lot of hope and you can not afford to fail Nigerians,” the statement partly read.
Additionally, he said that politicians should take a lot of lessons from the decision in order to be better led in their upcoming election actions.
The leader of Afenifere also praised Nigerians, the court, and everyone engaged in the legal system for how the case was handled peacefully.
News About Nigeria recalls that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday struck out a petition brought forward by the Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party and APM against the emergence of Tinubu as the country’s president.
However, the PDP and Labour Party have rejected the ruling of the PEPT indicating their intention to challenge the court judgement at the Supreme Court. This comes just as Peter Obi vowed to seek redress at the apex court.
