Nigerian singer Joseph Akinfenwa aka Joeboy has opened up about the challenges he faces when it comes to forgiving those who have wronged him, News About Nigeria reports.

He discussed the topic during a recent episode of the ‘Zero Conditions Podcast’, shedding light on the emotional struggle he encounters when trying to let go of past offences.

The ‘Focus’ singer confessed that he finds it difficult to forgive and forget, although he’s working on this aspect of his personality.

He explained that he takes personal offence when people treat him poorly, especially when he believes he has treated them with fairness and respect.

“It’s hard for me to forgive and forget, I can’t lie. I’m sorry but I’m trying though. I can hold a grudge because one thing I like to do when it comes to relationships with people is to make sure I do everything right.

“So when someone acts funny with me I take it personally because I’d never do that to you, why are you doing that to me? That’s why I take it personally.”

He also mentioned that while he might eventually forgive someone, it would take time, and even after forgiveness, it would be challenging for that person to regain access to his life.

“I might even forgive but it would take a while though, but if I’d forgive, it’d be very difficult to give the person access again.”

In 2022, singer Asa issued a copyright infringement notice to Joyboy over his song, “Contour”, demanding the sum of N300 million and giving a 24-hour ultimatum for the song to be removed from all digital streaming platforms.
