The All Progressives Congress has urged Nigerians to disregard the governorship election campaign council list of Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi that was earlier circulated on the party’s official handle.
Urging Nigerians to ignore the list, Felix Morka, the party’s national publicity secretary in a statement released late on Tuesday night suggested that the party was yet to set up a campaign council for any of the three states.
“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to National Campaign Council Lists for the 11th November 2023 Governorship Elections in Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo States in circulation in sections of the media,” a statement by Mr Morka read.
“The lists are not official documents of the party and should be disregarded,” it added.
News About Nigeria gathered that the Party’s organising secretary Muhammad Argungu, had earlier listed the chairmen of the governorship campaign councils approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, was chosen to head the campaign council in Bayelsa State, according to an earlier statement that was released on the party’s official Twitter page, according to Mr. Argungu.
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Badaru Abubakar, the Minister of Defence, Godswill Akpabio, and George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, were identified as the co-chairmen.
The Cross River state Governor, Bassey Otu, was appointed as chairman of the Imo Campaign Council with the trio of the Ebonyi state Governor, Francis Nwifuru; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, as co-chairmen.
However, many Nigerians have continued to question the ruling party for listing Wike on the Bayelsa governorship election campaign council list after he had already been listed on the campaign council of the main opposition party PDP.
