Wilfred Ndidi is reportedly on the verge of switching from Championship side Leicester City to their East Midlands rivals, Nottingham Forest, News About Nigeria reports.

This potential transfer comes as Forest looks to strengthen their squad before the closing of the transfer window this week.

The Nigerian midfielder has expressed a strong desire to return to the Premier League, particularly after Leicester City’s relegation.

This move, if it materializes, would be a significant setback for the Foxes, who have already seen key players like James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, and Youri Tielemans depart.

Nottingham Forest, under the management of Steve Cooper, has made midfield reinforcements a top priority. They have already secured the loan signing of highly-rated youngster Andrey Santos from Chelsea.

Ndidi’s addition would further solidify their midfield, given his reputation for defensive prowess.

The move for Ndidi comes in the wake of an unspecified injury to Orel Mangala, although it is not believed to be a serious setback.

Forest is eager to bolster their squad following a challenging return to the Premier League last season, where they narrowly avoided relegation.

While Forest has been active in the transfer market, bringing in players like Chris Wood, Anthony Elanga, Matt Turner, Ola Aina, Andrey Santos, and Gonzalo Montiel, there could also be departures from the club before the transfer window closes.

Midfielders Jonjo Shelvey and Harry Arter are among those potentially on the move, along with Gustavo Scarpa, who recently joined but has now left on loan to Olympiacos.

The move to sign Ndidi is expected to serve as a boost to the team, while they fight to stay in the Premier League.
