Nigerians have continued to react as the General Overseer of Deeper Life Christian Ministries, Pastor WF Kumuyi asks Nigerians to remain steadfast and hopeful in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
News About Nigeria understands that in an interview with reporters prior to the monthly Global Crusade of the Church, which is set to take place in Osogbo on Thursday, pastor Kumuyi declared that Nigerians will see a new country through the President and that God has not abandoned the nation.
He exhorted Nigerians to cooperate with the new administration, saying God would see to it that the country works via the well-chosen members of the President’s cabinet.
“Let’s forget the past. This is a new day and I believe; we all believe that we’re going to see new things for our country through our President and through the members of the cabinet. Good things will happen. If you look at the new ministers one by one, you’ll see the good things they’ve done either as state governors of the past or as former ministers and I would say they have been carefully chosen. If we support and accept them and if we are not criticising their every step, we believe that God will walk through them and use them as instruments to build our nation,” the clergyman said.
“God will perform a miracle in the heart of our leaders and their hearts will be towards the people and the wisdom to lead us and do everything that will benefit us as a country, the Lord himself will do it in their hearts,” he added.
While some netizens saw nothing wrong with the pastor’s comments, others slammed the pastor for taking a stand with the President despite the case still being before the PEPT
Reacting to pastor Kumuyi’s comment former Presidential spokesman Reno Omokri wondered why the pastor was being criticized
“Can his critics tell us precisely what is wrong with what Pastor Kumuyi said here? They had no issue with Peter campaigning from church to church, but they have problems with this?” Omokri wrote.
On his part popular influencer Kelvin Odanz suggested that the clergyman would have still wished the president well if it turned out that other candidates won the election.
“Whether Atiku, Peter Obi, or Sowore is the President, pastor Kumuyi will still wish them well and pray God changes Nigeria through them. Unlike your favorite pastors, he never campaigned for anyone or asked you to vote for anyone. He just wants to preach his holiness and serve his God,” he said.
On her part, one of the frontrunners of the #EndSARS protest Rinu Oduala asked which of the Tinubu the clergy was referring to.
“Which of the Tinubu?” she wrote.
On his part, Sir Chucho described the clergyman as part of Nigeria’s problems.
“Na so una dey tell us with every president…Religious leaders are part of the country’s problem,” he wrote.
