Ezekwesili Accuses Speaker Abass, NASS Of Conspiring With Tinubu To Pass Old Anthem Into Law

Oby Ezekwesili, a former minister of education, has responded to the recent directive from President Bola Tinubu’s administration ordering the removal of all billboards bearing the phrase “All Eyes on the judiciary” in the nation.

News About Nigeria reports that the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria ordered on Tuesday the removal of all billboards that read “All eyes on the judiciary” which had been put up throughout the nation.

Also, Olalekan Fadolapo, the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), placed the council’s Director and Deputy Director of Regulations on administrative leave for failing to do due diligence before approving the ‘All Eyes on Judiciary’ billboard advertisement.

According to him, the pair were suspended for failing to follow due diligence by approving an advert “blackmailing the Nigerian Judiciary and the Honourable Justices of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.”

However, responding to the development in a tweet on Wednesday, Ms Ezekwesili suggested that the move by the President Bola Tinubu-led government to bring down billboards with the inscription will not deter the promotion of the message.

According to her, it was cheaper to post messages on digital billboards than the ones that advert regulators took down.

“A Digital Billboard is so much cheaper than one that an obviously misguided regulator demolished. So here’s my message to our Nigerian Judiciary that constitutionally owes Citizens absolute judicial independence, transparency and integrity: #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary💡#AllEyesOnTheJudiciary,” she wrote.

Nigerians have continued to call on the Judiciary to deliver a fair judgment as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal gears towards delivering the verdict on petitions brought against the legitimacy of President Bola Tinub’s election by the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party.
