Chelsea has officially announced the signing of 21-year-old Ecuador international Moises Caicedo, News About Nigeria reports.
The midfielder has agreed to an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with an option for an additional year.
Coming from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion, Caicedo expressed his excitement, stating, “I am so happy to join Chelsea! It’s a dream come true to be here, and I can’t wait to get started with the team.”
Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley acknowledged Caicedo’s standout performance in European football, noting that he possesses a rare midfield skill set.
The club had been targeting him for some time, and they believe he will make a significant impact at Stamford Bridge in the just resumed season and beyond.
Caicedo’s football journey began in Santo Domingo, Ecuador. He rapidly progressed, making his senior debut at Independiente del Valle at just 17 years old.
His contributions were crucial in helping the team reach the final of the U-20 Copa Libertadores, where they emerged victorious against River Plate.
After moving to Brighton in February 2021, Caicedo continued to grow as a player. He was a key part of Brighton’s successful 2021/22 campaign, making 43 appearances and contributing significantly to their best-ever Premier League finish of sixth.
His stellar performance earned him the titles of the club’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.
As he embarks on a new chapter in his career, Moises Caicedo joins Chelsea, adding depth and talent to the team.
Chelsea supporters eagerly anticipate the impact the young midfielder will make as he wears the blue jersey at Stamford Bridge.
