A Support group of the All Progressive Congress has accused the President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio of working against the interest of his party.
The allegations comes as the Nigerian Senate delays the ministerial confirmation of former Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai and Stella Oketee.
The group in a statement asked the Godswill Akpabio-led Nigerian Senate to confirm the Senatorial appointment of former Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The Jato Abido-led APC support group also asked the Apkabio-led Senate to immediately confirm the ministerial appointments of Stella Oketete saying that the duo were pivotal to the victory of President Bola Tinubu at the general elections.
Expressing its disappointment with the Senate preside for allowing the delay of El-Rufai’s appointment, the group called on President Tinubu to intervene to ensure the speedy confirmation of El-Rufai’s ministerial appointment.
News About Nigeria had earlier reported that the Senate confirmed 45 of the 48 ministerial nominees, with Stella Oketete from Delta State and Ahmed El-Rufai from Kaduna State pending confirmation.
Further faulting the Senate president, the support group wondered why the Senate leader chose to work against the interest of his party.
“It’s unfortunate for Akpabio to be implicated in actions that seem detrimental to the All Progressives Congress (APC). During the election of President Bola Tinubu, prominent figures like Governor El-Rufai and Stella Oketete played pivotal roles, ensuring that Tinubu secured victories not only in their wards but states and the nation at large and must not be treated with utmost disrespect like the Senate just did,” statement by the group read.
Detailing that the duo of El-Rufai and Ms. Oketete were pivotal to the election victory of President Tinubu the group wondered why there were no security reports against the two unconfirmed nominees prior to the 2023 general election.
