Nigerian football clubs await the draw for the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, News About Nigeria reports.

The draw for the 2023 edition of the CAF (Confederation of African Football) Interclub competition will take place in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday, offering a glimpse of the challenging path ahead for these teams.

Enyimba, the reigning Nigeria Professional Football League champions, are two-time winner of the prestigious CAF Champions League.

As they enter the competition once again, the anticipation among players and fans is palpable.

The club’s illustrious history in the tournament has garnered respect from opponents and instilled a sense of determination to add to their accolades.

Remo Stars on the other hand, are set to make their debut appearance in the CAF Champions League after an impressive performance in the NPFL last season, where they finished as runners-up.

The club’s inclusion in the competition marks a significant milestone for the Ikenne-based team, and they look eager to make their mark on the continental stage.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Nigeria will be represented by two clubs: Rivers United and Bendel Insurance.

Rivers United who reached the quarter-final stage in the previous season, aims to go even further this time.

Their elimination by Tanzanian club Simba was a bitter pill to swallow, motivating them to come back stronger, while challenging for the title.

As the draw unfolds in Cairo, all eyes will be on these Nigerian representatives as they discover their opponents in the preliminary stage.

“We are prepared to take on any opponent that comes our way,” said Enyimba’s captain, Ibrahim Mustapha. “Our team is experienced, and we have the talent to compete at this level. We are aiming to go all the way and make Nigeria proud once again.”

Bendel Insurance’s coach, Joshua Abah, expressed his optimism, saying, “This is an incredible opportunity for our club to showcase our potential on a bigger stage.

“Our players are hungry for success, and we will give our best to make a mark in the CAF Confederation Cup.” he added.
