Manchester United’s pre-season tour in the US has been greeted with a remarkable display of commitment from their new signing, Andre Onana, News About Nigeria reports.
The Cameroon goalkeeper wasted no time in proving his worth to the Red Devils, as he engaged in a full training session just hours after an exhausting journey to join the squad in America.
After the agreement was reached between United and Inter Milan, Onana embarked on a demanding travel schedule from Turin to Birmingham, finally reaching Manchester for his medical.
Despite the grueling journey, the goalkeeper’s eagerness to link up with the squad was evident as he chose to skip the customary media activities reserved for new signings, putting training with the team as his top priority.
United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, was keen to integrate Onana as swiftly as possible, and the dedicated player didn’t disappoint.
Booked on an Aer Lingus flight from Manchester, Onana touched down at John F Kennedy Airport in New York on Thursday evening, where he was warmly welcomed by his former boss at Ajax and now United, Erik ten Hag.
The very next morning, Onana was on the training pitch at the Pingry School in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, showcasing his commitment to his new club and forming connections with his teammates.
During the morning session, he was seen engrossed in conversation with fellow United players Hannibal Mejbri, Anthony Elanga, and Amad Diallo, indicating his desire to gel with the team on and off the field.
“It’s truly impressive to see Andre’s dedication and professionalism. He’s already showing the qualities of a leader on the pitch,” commented United’s rising star, Hannibal Mejbri.
Meanwhile, United’s pre-season tour has also witnessed the return of a familiar face, Jonny Evans, who has rejoined the club eight years after leaving to join West Brom.
Darren Fletcher, a former teammate, played a crucial role in facilitating Evans’ reunion with the Red Devils.
