Former German midfielder Dietmar Hamann has predicted that his compatriot Kai Havertz will succeed at Arsenal, News About Nigeria reports.
Hamann believes that Havertz will shine at the London club and will display his full potential after his move from Chelsea.
The 49-year-old known for his astute analysis, sees Havertz’s best position as a second striker, playing just off the main striker.
In his recent interview with Lord Ping, he expressed his belief that pairing Havertz with Gabriel Jesus in the Gunners’ attack will be a game-changer.
“I think Kai Havertz’s best position is up front, just off the main striker. I think he’ll play with Gabriel Jesus, up top.
“Arsenal are a team that likes to pass the ball a lot more than Chelsea, and I think that will suit Havertz,” Hamann explained.
Hamann’s optimism for Havertz’s performance stems from the young talent’s past successes at Bayer Leverkusen, where he demonstrated his capabilities as a goal scorer at a tender age.
The former German international recalled a crucial goal scored by Havertz when he was only 17, which prevented Bayer Leverkusen from being relegated.
“We will see the real Havertz that we saw at Bayer Leverkusen when he was 17 and scoring important goals. Havertz is the player to watch out for, he’ll be a different player this season coming,” Hamann predicted confidently.
For Havertz to reach his full potential, Hamann believes it’s essential to pair him with an out-and-out number nine, a striker like Romelu Lukaku, Harry Kane, or Robert Lewandowski.
He noted that such strikers keep defenders busy and create space for attacking players like Havertz to exploit.
“Gabriel Jesus drifts wide, but we’ve seen how brilliant of a player he can be, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see them link up well together,” Hamann added.
