In a recent development, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has shed light on the delay in President Bola Tinubu‘s ministerial list.
According to Adamu, the delay is due to extensive consultations being carried out by Tinubu before an official announcement is made.
Recall that earlier this week, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling APC held a significant meeting with State chairmen from across Nigeria, with Adamu and the NWC taking the initiative to convene the gathering.
News About Nigeria reports that the meeting, which commenced at approximately 1:45 pm on Monday, was led by Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, the Borno Chairman, along with 31 other chairmen in attendance.
During the meeting, the APC national chairman addressed party chieftains, cautioning them not to set high expectations regarding the President’s ministerial list, despite the inclusion of loyal party members in Tinubu’s cabinet.
Adamu emphasized that not everyone can be appointed as a minister, and therefore, party members should temper their expectations.
Adamu stated, “Every APC member has an inherent right to hope for some patronage. We cannot all be ministers of the government or end up as board members, directors of parastatals, and MDAs across the country.”
He further explained that President Tinubu is currently engaged in extensive consultations before finalizing his nominees for ministers.
The nomination process will be followed by screening, and once the nominees are submitted to the President, they will undergo formal appointment and swearing-in.
Adamu also outlined the subsequent steps that will take place over the next two months, including the assumption of office by the ministers, the preparation of comprehensive reports, and the identification of vacancies for chief executives, directors, and part-time directors.
He emphasized that this process cannot be completed by next week but assured that it is what can be expected.
However, Adamu expressed hope that the party will receive some level of patronage from the newly formed government.
He conveyed the desire for President Tinubu to strengthen the party’s relationship at both the state and national levels.
During the meeting, the APC national chairman also condemned the kidnapping of Ekiti APC Chairman, Paul Omotosho, and extended his prayers for the swift recovery of the ailing Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
