JAMB To Host Policy Meeting

Mmesoma Ejikeme, the student at Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Anambra State, who has been entangled in a dispute with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has now admitted that her UTME score for 2023 was 249, not 362 as initially claimed.

News About Nigeria confirms that JAMB had initially accused Ejikeme of deliberately inflating her score in order to secure a N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors.

However, both the student and her parents vehemently denied the allegations, asserting that Ejikeme had always been a brilliant student and incapable of falsifying her results.

Ejikeme has now acknowledged that her actual score was 244, and she should not be held accountable for the confusion that ensued.

She made this clarification during her appearance on Sunrise Daily on Channels Television on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

The 19-year-old student explained that she had initially seen a score of 362 on her UTME result slip, which led her to believe that she had achieved the highest score ever recorded by JAMB.

However, JAMB disputed the result, emphasizing that she had manipulated the outcome.

The conflicting claims and denials made by Mmesoma Ejikeme and JAMB sparked a heated debate across Nigeria.

Amidst the controversy, JAMB maintained its position, stating that Ejikeme had used a template that the board had discontinued in 2021 to falsify her result.

Mmesoma acknowledged the error in the initial result but insisted she shouldn’t take the blame. “After all said and done, I now saw that I got 249.

“I sent them a text message there to know what really happened — the JAMB Support System. If they go to their system, they will see it there.”

She also faulted JAMB’s three-year ban on her, stressing that it was not her fault.

It’s not my fault that I printed my result like that, and they said that I forged my result. It’s not my fault. So, them banning it is not fair,” she said.
