Paul Hawksbee and other Tottenham fans have been left baffled by Mauricio Pochettino’s first press conference as Chelsea manager, News About Nigeria reports.

Mauricio Pochettino resumed duty as Chelsea’s new manager on Monday after signing a three-year contract with the London club shortly before the end of last season.

He returned to Cobham, Chelsea’s training ground where he had a time-long media chat with the London club’s media crew.

Some of his statements during the interview have sparked reactions from his former club (Tottenham) fans who have now shown their displeasure.

Among such fans is Paul Hawksbee, a sports radio presenter and Spurs fan who described some of the manager’s alleged statements about the former club as unnecessary.

Hawksbee references Pochettino when he said “The history of Chelsea is to win. It’s a culture of winning. In the last 10, 12, 15 years, Chelsea is the greatest team in England.

“I know very well the Premier League and what the culture of Chelsea meant,” he said.

Talking to the Chelsea fans, Pochettino added, “I know very well that we need to build this relationship. Our past is our past and we respect and are proud of our past. But now is the time to build a new club with different fans.”

But Hawksbee felt offended. “The thing that struck me is if you got married for the second time, And you stood up as the groom at the wedding and with your new bride beside you, you won’t do 10 minutes on your first wife, would you? It doesn’t make any sense.”
