Gaius Chibueze, the founder of Tatcoin, a prominent Nigerian Bitcoin company, has extended a scholarship offer to Mmesoma Ejikeme, the student at the center of a controversy surrounding her UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) result.
News About Nigeria reports that Chibueze took to his official Twitter account on Monday, July 3rd, to make the pledge. This development comes as the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) maintains its position that the UTME result presented by Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme is “patently fake.”
In a statement released by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol at JAMB, on Tuesday, the examination body announced that the candidate would be barred from sitting for its examinations for the next three years.
In response to this decision, Chibueze expressed his interest in sponsoring the 17-year-old student through his company to pursue her studies in any country of her choice, including the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom.
Chibueze urged JAMB to refrain from attempting to tarnish Mmesoma’s reputation, emphasizing that such actions would be seen as an attack on her ethnicity.
He also stated that his company would assist her in securing admission and would fully fund her education up to the Master’s degree level.
He wrote;
“I and our company @VoiceOfTheEast are ready to offer Miss Joy Mmesoma a 100% scholarship to study in the UK, CANADA, or the UNITED states of 🇺🇸 America.
Our team will work with her to get admission From any university of her choice in any of the above 3 countries. We will take 100% charge of her Fees and upkeep until her masters level.
@lota_nna, kindly get in touch with her and her family! We are calling on @JAMBHQ to desist from such unprofessional behavior. This is not just an attack on her person but the entire Igbo race!”
