Nigerian superstar singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has ignited a buzz on social media with his decision to respect boundaries during a recent performance with songstress Tems.
The dynamic duo took the stage together at the ‘Essence Fest’ on Sunday night, marking their first joint performance in two years, News About Nigeria reports.
As they concluded their rendition of the hit song “Essence,” Wizkid took a moment to express his gratitude. It was during this time that Tems, overcome with emotion, passionately hugged Wizkid.
However, the Ojuelegba crooner appeared somewhat hesitant and did not reciprocate the full embrace, catching the attention of fans and sparking discussions online.
The reason behind Wizkid’s cautious response may be linked to a controversial incident that occurred during the “Made In Lagos” concert at the O2 Arena in London in 2021.
During the show, Wizkid attempted to lift Tems, which drew mixed reactions from social media users. Some accused the Starboy Entertainment founder of assaulting her, while others defended it as a harmless gesture.
In a recent video clip from the ‘Essence Fest’ performance, the roles were reversed, with Tems initiating the hug towards Wizkid.
