Anthony Joshua has issued a warning that he will explore alternative options if Dillian Whyte fails to sign the complete contract for their proposed fight on August 12, News About Nigeria reports.

According to a statement given to ESPN by Whyte’s team on Sunday, they claim to have signed the contract for the fight against the Nigeria-born boxer.

“Dillian returned the signed agreement on Sunday morning ET and that he is unaware of any other party being in the frame for the fight,” said a representative for Whyte.

“He is looking forward to fighting Anthony Joshua for a second time on August 12 at The O2,” the statement further added.

However, in a separate report, ESPN mentioned that the contract signed by Whyte did not include considerations for Pay Per View (PPV), and as a result, Joshua’s team is awaiting the inclusion of that portion in order to finalize the deal.

According to the report, if this part of the contract remains unsigned, Anthony Joshua will seek an alternative opponent, with several options being considered, including Agit Kabayel.

The August 12 fight is intended to prepare Joshua for a major showdown with Deontay Wilder, which is being targeted for December in Saudi Arabia.

Regarding the December fight, promoter Eddie Hearn provided an update over the weekend, stating, “We had meetings with Saudi on Thursday and we’re in a great place with them. We virtually have a deal agreed in principle, subject to a few final discussions on stuff.”

Negotiations for the Whyte rematch have proven challenging, and it remains uncertain whether the fight will ultimately be finalized.
