Marcus Thuram has signed for Italian club Inter Milan on a five-year deal till 2028, News About Nigeria reports.

The club disclosed this in a statement Saturday, on their official website, stating that the 25-year-old son of former France international will now play alongside Lautaro Martinez.

“Marcus Thuram signs for Inter.” the statement read in part, adding that “The forward, who was born in 1997, joins the Nerazzurri following four seasons with Borussia Moenchengladbach.”

The 2022 World Cup finalist signed for Inter Milan on a free transfer, in a deal reportedly worth 6.5 million euros ($7.1 million) per year.

His employment was secured on the heels of his most successful season for Bundesliga side Borussia Moenchengladbach in which he scored 13 times. He became a free agent at the end of the campaign.

Thuram will play up front after picking the country of his birth, instead of Paris Saint-Germain who were also in the race for him.

His arrival is believed to be timely to replace veteran Edin Dzeko who signed for Turkish giants Fenerbahce last week.

However, Thuram may yet have to contend with Romelu Lukaku for a place in Inter’s starting line-up, as the Chelsea striker who has been on loan at Inter, hopes to discuss a permanent stay at the club when he travels back to England this week.

Thuram was born in Parma where his father played for five seasons, winning the UEFA Cup and Italian Cup in 1999 as part of a star-studded outfit that also featured Italian icons Gianluigi Buffon and Fabio Cannavaro.
