Chelsea star Mason Mount is set to travel to Manchester for a medical after Manchester United agreed deal of £60m with Chelsea to sign the England star, News About Nigeria understands.
United have now successfully reached a truce with Chelsea over their boyhood player who has impressed Erik Ten Hag to earn a place in his squad.
The Red Devils had three bids originally rejected by their Premier League rivals but the latest one had been left on the table for further negotiation by both clubs.
The deal has been revealed to include a potential £5m of add-ons when Mount wins trophies with the club.
The 24-year-old has been demanded a five-year long contract with an option for one-year extension.
Mount had always maintained his stand on leaving the club for a perceived couple of reasons which include Chelsea not meeting his wage demands.
Another is perhaps because he wants to play in the Champions League. Recall that Chelsea failed to qualify for the European elite competition having finished 12 on the league table last season.
Lastly, Mason Mount has only one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and is understood to be keen on a move to no other club than Man United. Although his options were limited.
Meanwhile, his departure is in line with Chelsea’s intention to trim their over-bloated squad under new boss Mauricio Pochettino and has so far sold Kai Havertz to Arsenal, and Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City.
While N’Golo Kante, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly have all moved to Saudi Arabia, with midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek close to joining AC Milan.
