Manchester United winger, Antony Matheus, commonly known as Antony, has broken silence, insisting he is falsely accused of domestic abuse allegation, News About Nigeria reports.
He disclosed this in a lengthy Instagram post on Wednesday, stating that he has never found himself in such position where he is now facing an unfair public judgment.
The Brazilian player maintained that he decided to stay silent so as not to interfere with the ongoing investigation process, but wondered why he has been widely condemned already.
23-year-old Antony added that he and his family have been suffering in silence and can’t wait for justice to vindicate him.
“I stayed silent until the moment so that nothing could interfere with the investigation process, but during all those days, my family and I suffered in silence.
“I had never been through a situation similar to this, in which a false assault charge resulted in a preliminary and unfair public judgement on the part of some,” he wrote.
Antony was in May accused of domestic violence by former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin while granting an interview with Brazilian TV.
The 22-year-old had initially filed a report at a Sao Paulo police station earlier this month, which contained accusations of assault, bodily injury and threatening behaviour by Antony, but detailed some of the weighty allegations made against the Brazilian international in her recent interview with Brazilian TV.
Much is to be heard about the case which is still under police investigation and could take time to unravel the hidden truth. However, Antony is said to be spirited, believing he will get justice.
