Manchester United fans speculate that the club’s takeover saga will not impact Mason Greenwood’s future, News About Nigeria reports.
Greenwood has recently been the subject of an internal investigation following his 2022 rape case involving his girlfriend, despite all charges being dropped by the prosecuting party in court.
Nevertheless, this has not hindered his personal training sessions.
In a recent development, Greenwood was photographed training alone for the first time since his arrest in 2022. The session took place at an £85-an-hour public sports center pitch on Thursday.
Fans have reacted to these pictures, with many believing that the club’s takeover will not affect the 21-year-old player, who is supposedly preparing for a return to competitive football.
In the images obtained by The Sun UK, Greenwood can be seen training in an all-black, non-United training kit, with the assistance of a private coach during a 90-minute session.
As the United takeover race continues, fans eagerly await the outcome between Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who have been engaged in a long-running battle since October of last year.
The Glazers, on their part, have remained silent regarding the offers made, causing concern among their fans and committed club legends.
However, United is working to restore order within the club and has engaged in extensive talks with Greenwood to determine his future.
Although the suspended England international is not expected to join training until pre-season, at the earliest, and pending the outcome of the investigation, there is a possibility he may be loaned to clubs in Italy, Spain, or Turkey upon his return.
Last week, Greenwood’s name was included in the list of ‘retained’ players at Old Trafford that was sent to the Premier League.
This comes as no surprise, considering Greenwood still has a valid contract with Manchester United until 2025, despite having his wages reduced since the case became public in 2022.
