Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu has been appointed as the Principal Staff Officer to the Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, News About Nigeria reports.

This appointment, which takes effect immediately, was announced through a police signal.

CP Tunji Disu, who previously served as the Commander of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos Island, Lagos State, Disu holds a degree in English Education from Lagos State University (LASU).

In addition, he has completed two postgraduate degrees. The first is a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University in Ondo State, while the second is in the field of Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology from Lagos State University.

Having joined the police force on May 18, 1992, Disu has undergone extensive training both locally and internationally.

His training includes courses on Small Arms Smuggling in Botswana, Internet Fraud at Cambridge University in the UK, Strategic Leadership Command at the Police Staff College in Jos, and Forensic Investigations and Criminal Intelligence at the University of Lagos, among others.

Disu’s appointment as the Commander of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) came on August 2, 2021, following the suspension of DCP Abba Kyari.

Prior to that, he served as the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos State, where he led a team that successfully apprehended numerous criminals, particularly fraudsters.

Additionally, he held the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Throughout his career, Disu has occupied several notable positions, including second in command at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Rivers State.

He has also served as the commander of the Nigeria Police Contingent to the African Union (AU) Peace Keeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan.

As the Principal Staff Officer to the Acting Inspector General of Police, Disu will play a crucial role in supporting the leadership and operations of the police force.

His vast experience in intelligence and law enforcement will undoubtedly contribute to the continued efforts to maintain peace, security, and order in Nigeria.
