Tottenham striker Son Heung-min has rejected the £100m offer to join Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad, News About Nigeria reports.
Son revealed that he has no plans to join clubs in the Saudi Pro League for now, as he still has much unfinished business in the English Premier League.
The Tottenham forward argued that money is not his aim at this point in his career, nor the pride that comes with it.
He disclosed his interest lies with Tottenham where he seems to be enjoying the round leather game, even though the said club hasn’t won any competitive title in years.
He further describes the Premier League as his favourite, while insisting he wants to play more for Spurs.
“I have many things to do in PL. Money doesn’t matter to me now, and the pride of playing football, to play in my favorite league is important. I want to play more for Tottenham”.
According to a Tuesday report by Mirror UK, the newly-crowned Saudi champions (Al-Ittihad) who beat Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr to the title last season, are preparing an opening bid in the region of €60million (£51m) for Son.
The club is said to be offering the player a lucrative four-year contract which would see him earn €30m (£25.6m) per season, putting him on the list of highest paid footballers in the world.
Meanwhile, Son maintains a current contract with Tottenham that will last until 2025 and the London club is unwilling to release him to any club.
The 30-year-old seems to be in the club’s long-term project and they are prepared to do anything to keep him in England for a couple of seasons more.
However, if he later changes his mind to leave, it would serve as a serious blow for new manager Ange Postecoglou, who is already fighting to keep captain Harry Kane at the club.
The transfer market window only opened on June 14, a lot is expected in the coming days. Many players have been reported deceived like Son before but later succumbed to pressure. Much is left to be heard in the case as events keep unfolding.
