Chelsea has officially announced the departure of their legendary midfielder N’Golo Kante, as he completes his move to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, News About Nigeria reports.

The 32-year-old who joined Chelsea in 2016 from Leicester City has now left the club after seven impressive seasons, to continue his career with the Saudi Pro League champions.

According to the statement on the club’s websites, Kante who has completed his contract with Chelsea remained understated, humble, and immensely popular with teammates, coaches and supporters alike, throughout his days with the club.

The French international is celebrated as an accomplished player, having won all major titles in the English Premier League (EPL), across Europe and the world.

Kante before joining Chelsea, won the Premier League title with Leicester City in the 2015/16 campaign.

Upon arrival at Chelsea in the 2016/17 season, he won the title again with Antonio Conte, the Blues boss at the time.

The aggressive midfielder would later help Chelsea to lift the FA Cup, Europa League, Champions League and UEFA Super Cup.

He is among the legendary Chelsea team that won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021 and has the English side emerge as the best football club in the world.

Kante also claimed the World Cup with France while as a Chelsea player in 2018. His tireless performances in midfield contributed to several trophy wins for the West London club and guaranteed him a place in the club’s history.

Kante also won a number of awards to show for his undisputable career at Chelsea. In his first season at the club, he was named PFA Player of the Year, the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and the Premier League Player of the Season.

In the 2017/18 campaign which ended with an FA Cup final triumph over Manchester United at Wembley, Kante was named Chelsea Player of the Year by supporters.

Kante’s game is said to have evolved during his time at Stamford Bridge as he played in a more advanced midfield role, even though he suffered career threatening injuries at some point.
