Unbeaten heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has revealed that Deontay Wilder is his toughest career opponent of all time,  News About Nigeria reports.

Fury disclosed this while recently speaking on Twitter Spaces about his hardest opponent since the start of his career.

According to The Gypsy King, as he is popularly called, his trilogy with WiBolder has been even more threatening than any other fight he has experienced since stepping into the ring.

He dismissed claims that his 2018 fight with Wilder, where he was dropped twice and it ended in a draw, was the hardest fight of his career.

“No, I don’t think that one was the most challenging,” he said. “I think Wilder three – me and Deontay had a trilogy, three title fights together – I think the third one was probably the hardest fight of my career.”

Fury was referring to a 2021 showdown that concluded their rivalry. The bout later won The Ring magazine’s Fight of the Year award.

Fury described the bout as a war between himself and Wilder while confessing that the match took a toll on him, as it did on his opponent.

“We both went to war. We both came in with damaging intentions. He put me down twice, I put him down three times, and I ended up getting a knockout in round eleven.

“But I do believe it took a lot out of both fighters, for sure. Hell of a fight.”

Recalling what it took for him to recover from the enervating fight, he added, “There’s a lot of rest and recuperation involved. Eating plenty of food, enjoying your family or friends or people you care about. And just taking it nice and slowly, you know.

“Because you’re going to be sore, you’re going to be in pain, you’re going to be hurting quite a lot.

“After a few days or a week, you start to get a lot better. Time is a healer, no matter what it is,” he concluded.
