Eid-ul Adha, also recognized as the Festival of Sacrifice, holds great importance in the Islamic faith and is joyously observed by Muslims all over the globe.
It commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. Just as Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son, Allah intervened and provided a ram for sacrifice instead.
During Eid-ul Adha, Muslims gather for communal prayers, engage in acts of charity, and participate in the sacrifice of an animal, usually a sheep, goat, cow, or camel, in remembrance of Ibrahim’s devotion.
The meat from the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts: one-third for the family, one-third for relatives and friends, and one-third for the less fortunate.
The Sultan, Alhaji Muhammad Sa‘ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, conveyed his warm wishes to the entire Muslim Ummah in advance, extending his greetings for a joyous and blessed Eidul Adha.
