Fuel Subsidy

In the advent of fuel subsidy removal, the Anglican Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Rt Rev Geoffrey Ibeabuchi, has called on the breadwinners of households, to allocate their earnings solely to the essential needs of their families.

This, he believes, will help alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on their livelihoods.

Bishop Ibeabuchi shared this advice during his address to the Anglican faithful on the occasion of this year’s Fathers’ Sunday in Umuahia Diocese, News About Nigeria reports.

He encouraged fathers to exercise prudence by focusing their financial resources on indispensable commodities, especially in light of the ongoing economic downturn.

While acknowledging that the elimination of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government has presented economic challenges to Nigerians, the Bishop emphasized that no father or family breadwinner should neglect the needs of their loved ones due to this situation.

Expressing gratitude for the preservation of Nigerians amidst the various socio-economic problems, the Bishop praised fathers for their contributions to the growth of the Church and Nigerian society.

He also extended his appreciation to their wives and children for their unwavering support.

Bishop Ibeabuchi stated, “In this dispensation of removal of fuel subsidy and its attendant hardship and stress, we encourage breadwinners and fathers to remain resolute, be prudent in the management of their resources and spend only on essential commodities.

“However, no man is allowed to neglect his family no matter the situation. God will help us and strengthen us in Jesus name.”

The Bishop also expressed concern about the growing number of Nigerian youths seeking better opportunities abroad, emphasizing that many of these young individuals would prefer to stay in Nigeria and contribute to the nation’s progress if the country’s leadership addressed key issues effectively.
