Renowned Nigerian singer, Davido, has shared a remarkable anecdote about his early struggles in the music industry, recounting how he contemplated selling his billionaire father’s Rolls Royce to finance his burgeoning career.
News About Nigeria reports that during an interview with ABtalks, the sensational artist disclosed that his father, Mr. Adedeji Adeleke, was initially unwilling to provide financial support for his musical endeavors.
Determined to pursue his passion, Davido resorted to desperate measures, which included breaking into his father’s Atlanta home in the United States to sell multiple televisions.
Davido revealed that this incident occurred when he was just starting out in his music journey.
Despite expressing his desire to relocate to Nigeria, his father vehemently opposed the idea, leaving the aspiring musician with no choice but to take matters into his own hands and seek ways to raise funds independently.
Driven by his unwavering determination, Davido admitted to selling off the televisions as part of what he referred to as “crazy means” to generate money for his music ambitions.
Astonishingly, he confessed that he even contemplated selling his father’s luxurious Rolls Royce in a desperate bid to secure the necessary funds.
OBO said; “So I blew up, remember I said that I told him I wanted to move back, but he disagreed. I ended up dropping out, he found out that I wasn’t in school for like a year.
I broke into his house in Atlanta, sold all the TVs, old his furniture. I almost sold his Rolls Royce, because I was like ‘yeah I want to do this music’ but he didn’t want me to, so I was like ‘you know what?’ I’m just about that crazy.”
