Petrol: Price Difference Reason For Long Queues – NNPCL

The closure of petrol stations in Anambra State has caused panic among residents, as the Independent Petroleum Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) implemented the shutdown, News About Nigeria reports.

Mr. Chinedu Anyaso, Chairman of IPMAN’s Enugu depot, clarified that the closure was not intended to harm or increase fuel prices, contrary to rumors circulating.

The primary reason behind the closure was to ensure the participation of all IPMAN members in an emergency general meeting scheduled to be held in Awka.

During a press conference in Awka, Anyaso shed light on the purpose of the emergency meeting.

It was called to address the recent marking of approximately 16 petrol stations in Ekwulobia by the Anambra State government.

These stations were earmarked for demolition to accommodate the proposed construction of a flyover in the town.

Anyaso emphasized the willingness of IPMAN members to comply with the government’s directive.

However, he stressed the pressing need for the government to engage in negotiations with their members regarding compensation.

These petrol stations serve as the sole source of income for IPMAN members, and it is crucial to safeguard their livelihoods.

Furthermore, Anyaso mentioned that a letter had been sent to the Anambra State Government regarding this matter, but no response had been received thus far.

Consequently, the purpose of the meeting was to explore avenues for engaging with the government and advocating for the best interests of IPMAN members and the public who rely on their services.

The closure of petrol stations has caused concerns among the residents of Anambra State, who rely on these stations for their fuel needs.

The abrupt shutdown has created uncertainty and apprehension, with many speculating about the motives behind it.
