The Police Command in Akwa-Ibom have confirmed the abduction of a top PDP chieftain in the state, News About Nigeria reports.

The Chieftain identified as Chief Eyo Edet popularly known as Eyo Aswang was kidnapped on Monday at this petrol station named Eyotech Nigeria Limited located in the Oron Local Government area of the state.

Eyo Aswang, was confronted by his captors and forcibly taken away in a Sienna car.

Subsequently, the abductors transported their victims to a waiting speed boat, while setting fire to the Sienna vehicle they had arrived in.

As of now, the abductors have not made any contact with the family to state their ransom demands.

Odiko Macdon, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed the incident.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, visited the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter.

The Sienna vehicle used in the crime has already been recovered.

Macdon stated, “We have received the information, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, personally visited the scene of the incident and went to the waterfront. We have also recovered the Sienna vehicle that was used in committing the crime. Investigations have already commenced, and I am confident that we will soon apprehend the culprits.”

Chief Eyo Edet, a high-ranking member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State, has been abducted by unidentified gunmen. The incident took place on Monday at his Filling Station, Eyotech Nigeria Limited, in the Oron Local Government area of the state.

Until his kidnapping , Edet was previously the Deputy Coordinator of the PDP’s Divine Campaign Organisation in Oron during the last election.
