Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially made her mark in the Guinness World Records (GWR), News About Nigeria reports.
GWR took to their official Twitter account to share their excitement after thoroughly reviewing all the evidence.
Hilda Baci has now secured the title for the longest individual cooking marathon.
Back in March 2023, Hilda captured the attention of the public when she boldly declared her intention to break the record for the longest cooking marathon.
Her ambitious goal was to surpass the remarkable achievement of Lata Tondon, who cooked continuously for an impressive 87 hours and 45 minutes in 2019.
On May 11, 2023, Hilda embarked on her journey to break the existing record. After several grueling days of non-stop cooking, she finally surpassed the previous record on May 15.
At precisely 7:45 am on Monday, May 15, 2023, Hilda exceeded the previous record holder’s feat by cooking for an astonishing 87 hours and 50 minutes.
Initially aiming to cook for an extraordinary 96 hours, Hilda later extended her target to 100 hours.
However, after careful verification by GWR, her cooking marathon was officially recognized to have lasted for an impressive 93 hours and 11 minutes.
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, a representative from Guinness World Records made an announcement on their website regarding Hilda’s record attempt.
They acknowledged her effort and expressed their excitement about the submission of evidence to their team in charge of managing records.
The statement further explained that once the review process was complete, the record would be officially confirmed.
In a recent statement, Guinness World Records has now formally declared Hilda’s remarkable accomplishment, officially crowning her as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon.
