Following the official announcement of Alexis Mac Allister’s signing by Liverpool, the young Argentine has been handed the number 10 jersey for the club News About Nigeria reports.
Liverpool’s number 10 jersey was previously donned by Sergio Mane, who now trades his skills in Germany with Bayern Munich.
Mac Allister signed a five-year deal with the English side for £35m, an amount speculated to be far below his ratings.
Meanwhile, Liverpool considers the acquisition of the World Cup winner as a significant boost to their squad, ahead of next season.
At 24, Mac Allister has earned a pedigree most of his counterparts dream of, the most exciting of them all is the World Cup.
He has proven himself in the English Premier League at Brighton and has the breadth of skills that make him an ideal fit for the demands at Liverpool.
Mac Allister is praised for his flexibility on the pitch, as he can defend and attack, tackle, pass and shoot the ball from with angles.
He has been named among the 10 players in the Premier League with the highest number of through-balls and possession won in the middle third of the pitch.
Though Manchester pair Bruno Fernandes and Kevin De Bruyne top the list for most through-balls, they are nowhere near Mac Allister for the number of times the ball was won back, with a record of 15 times.
He also fits in Jurgen Klopp’s style of play, as he ranks among the top 10 players in the EPL for possession won in the final third.
