Nollywood has been struck with yet another tragedy as seasoned actor Chikezie Uwazie, has reportedly passed away in the United States of America.
According to reports, Uwazie died after undergoing a second brain surgery.
News About Nigeria confirms that his death comes just hours after the passing of two other popular actors, Saint Obi and Murphy Afolabi.
The news of Uwazie’s death was first broken by his colleague, Obey Etok Chima, on her Facebook page on Sunday, May 14.
She wrote; “I can’t imagine am posting this. Chikezie Uwazie goneeeee. After a 2nd brain surgery. Gini na emezi. Am so shocked to get this news this evening. Just got this from our IMSU alumni platform.
Uwazie had been living in the US for over seven years and had starred in hundreds of Nigerian movies during his time in the early 2000s.
This recent string of deaths has left the Nollywood community in shock and mourning. Fans and colleagues of the late actors have taken to social media to express their condolences and pay their respects.

Seun Olaiya, a filmmaker and president of the Yoruba Movies Directors Guild, initially shared the news of Murphy Afolabi’s untimely demise on a WhatsApp platform dedicated to filmmakers.
Abdullahi Abdulrasaq, the Managing Director of Corporate Pictures Nigeria Limited, a prominent movie marketing company, also confirmed the heartbreaking news.
Olaiya expressed his shock and disbelief at the news, stating that he was “truly taken aback.” The sudden loss of Afolabi has left the Yoruba movie industry in mourning, with colleagues and fans alike taking to social media to express their condolences and pay their respects.
