Tinubu Approves Landmark Health Sector Reforms

The Abuja Presidential Election Court in Nigeria made a decision to adjourn the petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) until Thursday, May 11, 2023, News About Nigeria reports.

This petition challenges the victory of Bola Tinubu from the ruling All Progressive Congress in the presidential elections that took place on February 25, 2023.

The petition, with the reference number CA/ABJ/PEPC/04/2022, raises concerns about various irregularities in the presidential election, including the tampering of election results.

One of the main arguments presented is that Tinubu did not have a properly nominated vice president, which means he was not validly supported by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The respondents listed in the petition include the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and Kabir Masari.

According to the petition, “The third respondent (Bola Tinubu) lost his candidacy and was no longer eligible to compete in the presidential election when the fifth respondent (Kabir Masari) withdrew his nomination as the second respondent’s (APC’s) vice presidential candidate.”

During the proceedings on Tuesday, both the petitioners and the respondents made their appearances and presented their replies. Justice Haruna Tsammani, presiding over the case, instructed them to identify the main issues to be considered during the upcoming hearing. He also asked them to address any objections and determine the issues that should be brought before the court.

“The parties should file their responses so that they can be considered during the pre-hearing session,” the justice stated before the court took a short recess.
