Again, Senate Appeal To Nigerians To Shelve Planned Protest

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) member has raised concerns about the potential appointment of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the next Senate President, News About Nigeria reports.

Musa Saidu, the leader representing the Arewa community in Southern Nigeria, cautioned that if Akpabio were to assume the role, it would have disastrous consequences for Nigeria.

Saidu emphasized that no authentic Northerner would support Akpabio’s candidacy for the position of Senate President.

He strongly criticized the endorsement of Akpabio by a coalition of Northern groups, expressing the Arewa community’s disapproval.

In a statement, Saidu clearly stated, “We hereby distance ourselves from the endorsement of Akpabio as the Senate President by a coalition of Northern groups. No genuine Northern group would endorse Akpabio for such a crucial role because he does not foster a harmonious relationship with the North. As residents of the South, we are well-acquainted with Akpabio and can attest that he is not someone who maintains friendly ties with the Northern people.”

The ACF member’s reservations about Akpabio’s suitability for the Senate Presidency stem from his perceived lack of amicability towards the North.

The Arewa community, being familiar with the regional dynamics, firmly believes that Akpabio does not possess the necessary qualities to foster positive relations with Northern Nigeria.

It is evident that the Arewa Consultative Forum holds a different perspective from the Northern coalition that endorsed Akpabio.

Saidu and the ACF emphasize that their stance is representative of true Northerners who are acquainted with Akpabio’s interactions and relationships within the South.

By voicing their dissent, the Arewa community seeks to distance themselves from the endorsement of Akpabio, asserting that their position is grounded in a deep understanding of the political landscape and the key players involved.
