Former Super Eagles forward, Jonathan Akpoborie has warned the Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso to invite players based on merit ahead of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have also been pitted alongside Brazil, Italy and the Dominican Republic in Group D of the tournament.
News About Nigeria gathered that the former Wolfsburg striker stated that Bosso’s invitation of players must be free from sentiments and favouritism.
Akpoborie added that the Flying Eagles have the capability to gather the most formidable team to challenge some of the big teams at the tournament.
“The FIFA U-20 World Cup should afford Ladan Bosso the opportunity to correct the mistakes he made at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, where the team finished third.
“His invitation and selection of players must be on point this time around if he must get a positive result against Brazil, Italy and Dominican Republic,” he said.
According to the latest FIFA media release in June, the 2023 U-20 World Cup will take place from May 20 to June 11, 2023.
The tournament was slated to be held in Indonesia, the first FIFA tournament held in the country, and the second U-20 World Cup held in Southeast Asia since the 1997 edition was contested in Malaysia. However, in late March 2023, FIFA withdrew Indonesia’s hosting rights.
