The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled Senator Danjuma Goje, the Senator representing Gombe State Central zone, over allegations of anti-party activities, News About Nigeria has learnt.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the APC in Goje’s Kashere ward, Tanimu Abdullahi.
Abdullahi accused the Senator of committing ten offences, including failing to attend the APC’s governorship campaign and general anti-party activities.
He further noted that it was disappointing that the Senator couldn’t win his ward for the party during the governorship and Presidential polls.
According to Tanimu, the Senator’s popularity could have earned victory for the APC, but he allegedly failed to consider and support the party during the elections.
As a result, the Kashere ward executives, including four state officials, signed the expulsion letter, which was handed to newsmen.
Senator Goje has been having a running battle with some members of his party and across the senatorial zone for allegedly working against the party and sponsoring the governorship candidate of the opposition party during the just-held governorship poll.
The expulsion of the former Governor of Gombe State comes barely a week after some APC members from the same senatorial zone petitioned the party’s national leadership to discipline Senator Goje for his alleged anti-party activities.
The party members, who submitted the petition to the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, claimed that Goje’s actions during the elections were inimical to the interests of the APC and its candidates.
They further accused him of sponsoring candidates from opposition parties in the Gombe State House of Assembly elections, leading to the loss of some seats by the APC. The petitioners called on the party leadership to investigate the matter and take appropriate actions against Senator Goje.
