11 Internet Fraudsters Arrested by EFCC in Borno State Sting Operation

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday announced it has arrested 11 suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo Boys in Jere and Maiduguri Local Government areas of Borno State on April 12, 2023.

News About Nigeria understands that the suspects were apprehended in a sting operation following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet fraud, commonly known as “yahoo yahoo” or cybercrime.

The suspects were identified as Olatunji Sherif, Bright Felix, Jude Linus Magaji, Jonah Jondi, Ojobaro Abdullahi, Jerry Zizighi, Micah Joseph, Mari Ayuba, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Adam Abiodun, and Victor Chinonso Okolieaboh.

During the raid, various items were recovered from their residences, including a Mercedes Benz GLK 350, a Toyota Corolla saloon car, smartphones, MTN 4G Wi-Fi, and power banks.

Internet fraud is a criminal activity that involves the use of the internet to defraud unsuspecting individuals or organizations of their money or valuable information.

The EFCC has been intensifying its efforts to combat internet fraud and other forms of financial crimes in Nigeria. The commission has been conducting raids and arrests across the country to apprehend those involved in fraudulent activities and bring them to justice.

The spokesperson for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said in a statement that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
