The Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Prophet Solomon Adegboyega Alao, cautioned that any attempt to arrest Mr. Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba Ahmed, could lead to a repeat of the 1964 scenario, which would have devastating consequences for the country.
He made this known in his Easter message monitored by News About Nigeria.
Prophet Alao advised the federal government to be more circumspect in its dealings with opposition parties and their candidates.
He called on the government to reassure those who lost the elections that they will get justice in court, rather than threatening them with treason charges.
He also urged President-Elect Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to be magnanimous in victory and to avoid overheating the polity.
The clergyman emphasized that the country cannot afford to be polarized like this and urged Nigerians to reject any advocacy for a return to the military or interim government, which has been declared illegal by the court.
He called on religious leaders to continue praying for the peace and stability of Nigeria.
