Recently crowned Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux has withdrawn from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Miss South Africa Organization on Friday.
The beauty queen while expressing her gratitude to her supporters said the decision to withdraw was not easy for her.
She noted that she is grateful for the opportunity to focus on her recovery, adding that this will enable her to serve her country with full strength.
Also, showing their support for Miss South Africa, the organizers stated that they remain dedicated to ensuring that Le Roux regains her full strength to enable her to return stronger.
They stressed that her health will continue to remain their priority and restated their commitment to the beauty queen.
The Miss Universe preliminary competition kicked off on Friday in Mexico City, with previous winners R’Bonney Gabriel of the USA and Sheynnis Palacos of Nicaragua as hosts.
The coronation night will be held on November 16.
This has however sparked lots of reactions from both Nigerians and South Africans alike.
News About Nigeria reports that this is because of the saga where the current Miss Nigeria, and former contestant Miss South Africa, Chidimma Adetshina, was disqualified from the Miss South Africa race due to an alleged identity theft.
Nigerians have resulted to mocking Le Roux and South Africans, stating that despite their hatred towards Chidimma, Le Roux is out of the race while Chidimma goes ahead to compete on the global stage with chances of being crowned the Miss Universe 2024.
