I Stand In Solidarity With The Super Eagles - Victor Osimhen

Super Eagles top player and striker, Victor Osimhen, has extended his support to his teammates and coaches following the poor treatment by the Libyan government, News About Nigeria reports.

In a statement on Monday, Osimhen condemned the actions of the Libyan government towards the Super Eagles, stating that he supports whatever decision the team takes.

Recall that the Super Eagles have been stranded at an abandoned airport in Libya for over 13 hours, without food, water, or an internet connection.

The NFF, in a statement on Monday, disclosed that 12 hours after landing in Libya, the Super Eagles were still stranded at the Al Abraq Airport.

The Federation stated that the Super Eagles aircraft was diverted from Benghazi just as the pilot was completing his approach to the Benghazi Airport.

It stated that the host Libyan Football Federation had failed to send any reception team or even vehicles to take the delegation members from the airport to their hotel, which was three hours away in Benghazi.

Reacting to the poor treatment of the nation’s senior men’s football team, Osimhen expressed his disappointment, stating that the actions of the Libyan government go against the spirit of sportsmanship.

He stated, “I am disappointed by the unfair treatment my brothers and coaches are facing at the Libya airport since last night.

“Actions like this go against the spirit of sportsmanship. My support is with my team and I know they’ll stay strong despite these obstacles.

“I call on CAF and other football bodies to intervene, as my teammates and officials are still stranded at the airport in Libya.

“This is uncalled for and inhumane. We stand together, stronger than ever.”

The NFF has reportedly begun plans to bring the Super Eagles back home, as it noted that its medical team has advised against pulling through with the match as scheduled.
