The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has extended his sympathy to the families of the five police officers who lost their lives while returning from Edo State, where they went for an official assignment, News About Nigeria reports.
Ganduje expressed shock and sadness at the unfortunate incident while speaking to police officers in Bichi town, Kano State, on Saturday.
Recall that five police officers had died and 10 others sustained various degrees of injuries after being involved in an accident while returning from an assignment in Edo State two weeks ago.
Ganduje noted that it has been the tradition of their party, APC, and his Government to always be with families in grief, and be with them to comfort them and make them feel that they are not alone in the sad moment.
According to him, the accident was a sad moment not only for the Police Force but for him and the nation in general.
He stated, “We are here not for celebrations but for condolence to sympathize with the families, IGP, and the entire Kano of those that died while returning from a national assignment, which occurred last two weeks.
“I decided to personally come down to Bichi because of the enormity of the death, and because the officers gallantly died in active national service.”
He also donated the sum of N2 million to the five family members, who lost their loved ones while 10 others who sustained various degrees of injuries were given N1 million each.
