Extravagant Behaviours By Public Officials Fueling Protests - ACF

The Civil Society Organisation on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI) has issued a call to action for Nigerians to adopt a constructive approach to addressing the country’s current challenges.

News About Nigeria reports that the organisation advocates embracing reforms and engaging in negotiations with the government.

The demonstration, which commenced on August 1 has now reached its third day.

According to CSCHEI, Nigeria’s economic stability is too fragile to withstand prolonged periods of unrest, and such actions could lead to social chaos.

Instead, the organisation urges critical stakeholders, including civil society organizations, community-based organisations, non-governmental organisations, youths, students, and others, to work with the government to find solutions.

CSCHEI’s Director General, Kunle Yusuff, emphasised the need for patience and cooperation, stating that the government’s interventions require time to mature.

The organisation also called on the federal government to accelerate its reform processes, highlighting key areas that require urgent attention.

These areas include declaring a state of emergency in basic healthcare and agriculture, reviewing housing and retirement policies, improving electricity supply and energy sufficiency, and enhancing inter-agency communication and coordination.

CSCHEI stressed that these reforms are crucial for Nigerians to begin enjoying the benefits of democracy.

To promote emotional intelligence and moderate public sensibilities during this challenging period, CSCHEI has established a committee for public enlightenment and advocacy against extremism and radicalisation.

The organisation plans to engage with at least 20 civil society organizations in each state capital to promote constructive dialogue and advocacy.

Furthermore, CSCHEI called on state governors and local government authorities to provide accurate information about federal interventions, emphasizing the importance of transparent communication during this critical time.

The organisation reminded all Nigerians that national development is a collective responsibility, requiring patriotism and cooperation at all levels of leadership, including community and religious leaders.

By working together and embracing reforms, CSCHEI believes that Nigerians can overcome the current challenges and build a more prosperous and stable future.
