NECO Reports Over 1.3 Million Registrations For 2024 SSCE Examination

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that over 1.3 million candidates have registered for the ongoing 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, News About Nigeria reports.

NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, shared this information on Wednesday while overseeing the examination at various centers in Enugu, Enugu State.

Prof. Wushishi expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the examination, citing nationwide reports that indicate a seamless process.

He attributed this success to innovative measures implemented to curb examination malpractice.

“The decline in examination malpractice is due to the new strategies we have put in place,” Prof. Wushishi stated.

He encouraged students to strive for good grades through hard work, stressing that “there is no shortcut to success.”

To ensure the integrity of the examination process, Prof. Wushishi has personally monitored the exercise in several states, including Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Abia, Imo, and Anambra.

He reported that stakeholders in these regions have praised NECO for the effective measures ensuring the smooth conduct of the 2024 SSCE.

Additionally, the examination is being conducted in international locations such as Togo, Benin Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Niger Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Prof. Wushishi said that the expansion of NECO exams to these countries underscores the global recognition and acceptance of NECO certificates.

The 2024 NECO SSCE began on June 19 and is scheduled to conclude on July 25, 2024, with candidates sitting for exams in 76 different subjects.

Meanwhile, the federal government announced the release of the results for the 2024 National Examination Council (NECO) Common Entrance Examination for Unity Schools.

The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, during a press briefing at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja yesterday.

Dr. Sununu disclosed that a total of 71,291 candidates participated in the 2024 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), which was conducted in 599 centres on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

According to NECO data, Lagos State had the highest number of candidates, with 17,751 students, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 10,209 candidates and Anambra State with 4,972 candidates.
