Security forces in Katsina State have stated that they have arrested a lady, identified as Aisha Abubakar, for allegedly supplying bandits in the state with various ammunition, News About Nigeria reports.
This was disclosed by a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, on Monday.
He noted that the suspect was arrested after being caught transporting ammunition to terrorists in the state, adding that she is currently in detention.
He also stated that the ammunition was discovered during a routine search of Abubakar’s luggage.
Makama disclosed that the suspect had initially denied any involvement in the illegal activity but later admitted to her role in the operation after a rigorous interrogation.
The suspect had revealed that she was transporting the ammunition from Nasarawa State to bandits in Katsina State.
He added that further interrogation revealed more details about the intended destination of the ammunition.
“The authorities discovered the ammunition in her luggage during a routine search.
“She initially denied involvement but later confessed to transporting the ammunition to a terrorist group from Nassarawa State.
“During the course of interrogation, the suspect confesses that she was heading to Yan Tumaki in Dan Musa LGA in Katsina State,” he stated.
He further noted that the arrest is significant in the broader context of counter-terrorism efforts, adding that the incident highlights the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and the importance of vigilance in preventing the proliferation of illegal weapons.
He, therefore, urged the government and security agencies in various states to intensify efforts to ensure that terrorism is dealt with.
