The Presidency has defended President Bola Tinubu amidst outrageous reactions to his fall at Eagles Square on Democracy Day.

News About Nigeria reports that on Wednesday, Tinubu missed his steps and fell while climbing the parade vehicle at Eagle Square in Abuja.

The president momentarily lost his footing but quickly regained his balance with support from his aide-de-camp (ADC).

In a post on his X page, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser on information and strategy, to President Bola Tinubu, said his principal is not a superman, adding that he’s like other human beings.

Onanuga recounted that President Joe Biden of the United States and former President Barack Obama once slipped.

The presidential aide said Tinubu’s slip should not distract Nigerians from the importance of the Democracy Day celebration.

“President Tinubu is not a Superman. He is human like all of us. President Biden has had several slips in the last three years. Even the younger Barack Obama slipped while President,” Onanuga wrote.

“Political leaders are human. Slipping should not detract from the import of Democracy Day celebration.”

Equally, Olusegun Dada, special assistant to President Bola Tinubu on social media, insisted that there were no issues with the president.

Dada explained that Tinubu only missed his steps.

Also,  the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has sympathised with President Bola Tinubu for slipping while boarding the presidential parade vehicle at the venue of the 2024 Democracy Day.

Tinubu had earlier addressed the nation in his national broadcast to mark the 25th anniversary of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria.

The president said his administration is working tirelessly to fix the economy and insecurity.
