Ex-Oyo Park Chairman, Auxiliary, Sent To Prison Over Murder Charges

A former Chairman of the Park Management System (PMS) in Oyo State, Mukaila Lamidi, also known as Auxiliary, has been remanded at Agodi Prison, Ibadan.

News About Nigeria reports that Auxiliary was sent to prison on Thursday, pending trial over charges bordering on murder.

The 63-year-old was arraigned before Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on a four-count charge of conspiracy, causing death, and stealing.

Auxiliary has been remanded in prison till July 11, pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

According to the police, Auxiliary and others now at large allegedly conspired to commit offences, including the murder of one Azeez Rahman Abiodun, 36, who was stabbed to death with a knife in the chest on June 16, 2021, at Baba-Onilu Shopping Complex, Iwo Road area of Ibadan.

The police also alleged that Auxiliary and others conspired and stole assorted phones valued at N150 million, the property of Azeez Hammed Adebayo.

The offences, according to the police, are contrary to Sections 383 and 316 and punishable under Sections 319, 111, 390 (9), 324, and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi therefore ordered the remand of Auxiliary due to a lack of jurisdiction.

Auxiliary was arrested by the men of the Department of State Service at his Olodo residence in Ibadan a few days ago and was paraded by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat, before journalists in Ibadan on Thursday.

Weapons, including one AK-47 rifle, four AK-47 magazines, 84 live AK-47 ammunitions, 19 pump action rifles, one Barreta Pistol, seven cut-to-size guns, and one English-made barrel gun, were recovered from the sacked PMS boss.

Other items recovered from Auxiliary include 724 live cartridges, 25 cutlasses, seven jack knives, 33 mobile phones, one Samsung laptop, charms, one Mazda bus, one Toyota Sienna, and N3.4 million in cash.
