Nigerian singer and rapper, Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh, has been hospitalized after suffering multiple stab wounds in a violent attack in Lagos.
The incident occurred late Wednesday night when unidentified assailants trailed and attacked the “Shoki” crooner while he was returning from a private outing.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the hoodlums dispossessed him of luxury jewelry valued in millions of naira before fleeing the scene, News About Nigeria reports.
Lil Kesh was stabbed multiple times and sustained deep cuts before being rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors are working to stabilize his condition. Sources confirmed he remains under close medical supervision.
His management is yet to release an official statement on the extent of his injuries.
The attack has reignited concerns over violent crimes targeting Nigerian entertainers, particularly in Lagos, where several celebrities have suffered similar incidents in recent years.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing, though no official arrests have been made.
The robbery has fueled speculation that the assault was carefully planned, given that the attackers appeared aware of his movements and possessions.
Social media has been flooded with hashtags such as #PrayForLilKesh and #JusticeForLilKesh as fans, colleagues, and stakeholders in the entertainment industry express their concern.
Fellow artists have condemned the attack, urging authorities to address rising insecurity and provide better protection for public figures.
The incident also sparked debate over lifestyle choices and the visibility of wealth by Nigerian celebrities. While critics argue that flamboyant displays of jewelry make artists vulnerable, others insist the responsibility lies with law enforcement agencies to safeguard lives and property.
Lil Kesh rose to prominence under Olamide’s YBNL Nation with hit singles including “Lyrically,” “Efejoku,” and the chart-topping “Shoki.”
His energetic performances and street credibility cemented his place in Nigeria’s Afrobeats and street-hop culture.
After leaving YBNL, he launched his record label, YAGI Records, and has maintained relevance despite challenges in the competitive music industry.
As Lil Kesh continues to receive treatment, fans remain hopeful for his recovery. Industry leaders have called for urgent reforms to strengthen security in Lagos, stressing that unchecked violent crimes could endanger more artists and tarnish the country’s entertainment industry.
