The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Plateau State Command, has warned against reckless driving as the year comes to a close, News About Nigeria reports.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of a campaign titled “Speak Up Against Dangerous Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers Than Drivers,” the Sector Commander of the FRSC in the state, Maxwell Plateau, said there is a need for behavioral change among drivers.

He noted that passengers have the right to a safe journey and encouraged them to caution drivers who violate road rules.

He further listed safety measures the Commission is taking to maximize safety both in the state and nationwide, which include intensifying and increasing visibility, providing prompt response to emergencies, and reinforcing the enforcement of traffic rules and regulations, among others.

He stated, “We must appreciate the selfless services of the transport subsector in ensuring that the movement of people, goods, and services reaches their destinations safely.

“However, we must be deliberate in playing our role to maximize safety. At this critical moment, FRSC will intensify efforts, increase visibility, provide prompt emergency response, and add more weight to the enforcement of traffic rules and regulations to ensure our safety. Passengers also have their own roles to play.

“By reporting reckless driving and adhering to road safety guidelines, travelers can contribute to a safer ember-month period. Remember, safe arrival is everyone’s responsibility.”

Also speaking at the event, the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, who was the Special Guest of Honour, commended the FRSC for the good work it is doing to sanitize the nation’s roads, reduce road traffic crashes, and clear obstructions on the roads.
