Members of the Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals (JOHESU) have announced that they will be embarking on a seven-day warning strike, which will commence at midnight on Friday. News About Nigeria reports.
The National Chairman of the union, Kabiru Minjibir, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Friday.
He noted that the strike is not a surprise to both the Union and the government, as it is coming after a fifteen-day notice of industrial action issued to the Federal Government.
According to him, the government is yet to comply with the demands of the healthcare professionals, which include the immediate implementation of the consolidated health salary structure and the payment of a 25 percent review of its arrears from June to December 2023, among other demands yet to be attended to by the government.
The Union, therefore, urged its members across the country to ensure that they comply with the directive to stop work for the seven days the warning strike will hold and await further directives from the Union.
He stated, “Some of our demands yet to be addressed by the government are the immediate implementation of the consolidated health salary structure, payment of a twenty-five percent review of its arrears from June to December 2023, upward review of retirement age for health workers, tax waiver on healthcare workers allowances, and the immediate payment of COVID-19 inducement hazard allowance, among other demands.
“The body is asking all its members across the country to comply with the directive.”
